meet the crew

Getting this party started in Canada for all us Cookiers (finally!)
Nicole has owned and operated The Cookiery since 2018 and has been making & decorating sugar cookies since 2009 - long before cookie cutters were cool ;) From a small Etsy shop run out of their family home, to now a storefront and one of the only baking supply shops in London, The Cookiery is a true staple to many Cookiers & bakers around the world! We are very proud to be the home of the original labelled cookie cutter, designed by her husband Chris.

Nicole and her team also offer a variety of cookie classes at their storefront every month. We love seeing & meeting all our customers, and truly feel honoured that many of you have made us a big part of your cookie journeys over the years!

Corianne is the Founder of Cookie Couture in Calgary, where you'll find everything you need (and more!) for creating your own cookie art and other treats. She fell into cookie decorating in 2016 when searching for the perfect class treat for her preschooler and little did she know what lied ahead! From having no baking experience to an award winning home bakery, countless workshops and even publishing a book, she's proof that you can always learn something new and turn it into so much more!

Corianne’s focus now is all about sharing the art of decorating with others through her supply shop, both online and in store. From both creating and sourcing the best products to marketing and social media content that showcases them, it's the love for this community that keeps her inspired and always dreaming up new ways to keep making it all better!

Marya has been a cookie decorator for about 6 years now. Her love for sugar cookies began when she was young, baking classic sugar cookies with sprinkles with her Italian grandmother(IYKYK). When she tried her first royal icing decorated cookie in 2016 she was immediately hooked on the craft. Marya became obsessed with all things sugar cookies, and thats where it all began!

Marya has worked as a full-time cookie decorator from 2020 - 2025, and is now currently working at The Cookiery, both behind the scenes and at their storefront, teaching monthly cookie decorating workshops.

Susanna of WestRock Cookie Co in Calgary started decorating cookies in 2020 as a creative outlet outside of her career as a home builder. Her eye for detail when it comes to home design quickly transferred to her decorating, which also led to teaching with Cookie Couture! Like many with a cookie cutter addiction, she ventured into 3d printing and soon teamed up with Cookie Couture to design all of their cookie cutters and other signature printed products. She now channels her passion for decorating into helping to showcase the cutters she designs for this community that she loves!
Denise brings to the CookieFest team her wealth of experience in marketing & communication, as well as the development and execution of marketing initiatives in North America and South East Asia in the industries of quickserve (fast food) , film publicity and promotions for a major American motion picture studio, and fashion for a major Philippine fashion retailer. Formerly from Manchu WOK Canada and 20th Century Fox Films, Denise has planned and executed numerous events through her decades-long career. When not working, she takes care of her young children and German Shorthaired Pointer and also spends time on the courts competing in ladies league tennis. Denise is a casual baker but an avid cookie fan who never met a chocolate chip she didn't like.
Kate started decorating cookies in September 2023 after watching videos of cookie decorating for several years! What started as a little hobby has blown up into a full blown gig! Her eye for detail and making each cookie perfect sets her apart from other cookiers. Even as a kid, Kate has been making sugar cookies with her family every Christmas; a tradition she brought into my own home with her daughter, nieces and nephews. Sugar cookies have always had a special place in her heart! Formerly from Detroit, Kate moved to Calgary with her husband and daughter where she started Sugar Mama YYC cookies. Kate currently works at Cookie Couture as the shop coordinator working behind the scenes decorating cookies as well as in the storefront! Cookies consume Kate’s life and she wouldn’t have it any other way!
Jessica Cowley is the owner of Toadily Baked Desserts, a licensed home bakery in San Ramon, California. With over twenty years of baking experience, she’s known for her wide range of custom treats — from decorated cookies and elegant cakes to colorful macarons and cakesicles. Beyond her own business, Jessica is the West Coast Distributor for Borderlands Bakery Shop and part of My Custom Bakes team, where she helps bakers connect, learn, and grow their business.
Lisa He is the founder and CEO of Borderlands Bakery and My Custom Bakes, but more than that, she’s a creator, mentor, and advocate for passionate bakers and small businesses around the world. Her journey—from a first-generation immigrant whose family used the oven for storage rather than baking, to a biotech professional, and ultimately, to a full-time entrepreneur—is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and community.

Recently, Lisa added another chapter to her story with the release of her first cookbook, Matcha Meets Macaron (Sept. 2024). This book is a love letter to her roots and community, blending a passion for baking with little tidbits about life and business. Through it all, Lisa remains dedicated to helping others find fulfillment in their craft, just as she did. Whether through a beautifully decorated cookie, a thoughtfully designed software tool, or a heartfelt mentorship session, her mission remains the same: to build a world where creativity, passion, and kindness thrive—one maker at a time.
